Abacus

ABACUS is basically a counting instrument invented for the purpose of doing arithmetic calculations and was widely used by traders, salesmen and merchants of Asian countries in ancient times. It is actually a brain development too. The History of Abacus leads back to 5th century BC when evidences of use of Abacus are found by Mayans and Egyptians in the form of counting through pebbles, but the Abacus as an instrument was developed by the Chinese in 2nd century BC (Suanpan). The Abacus has undergone various changes after getting major contribution from Japan (Soroban), China and India.

In modern times Abacus is transformed from a counting instrument to a whole Brain development program for children. As we all know that the human brain is divided into two parts the right portion and the Left portion. The right side of the human body is controlled by the left portion of the brain and the left side is controlled by the right portion of the brain. Thus those people in which the right side of brain is more active are left hander and those whose left side is more active are right hander while working on an Abacus the child uses both his hands and thus it activates both portions of the brain resulting in overall brain development. Tools like abacus are also comes under the catagory of maths games for kids. Government of all countries should make abacus course compulsory in all schools.
Also while working on the Abacus the child gets additional advantages like they develop photographic memory, develop excellent recall power, they learn time management and concentration which results not only in math improvement but also excellent result in other subjects also. Thus abacus is a Whole Brain Development program for Kids. Also abacus provides and encourage child maths learning capability and to develop mental maths. Child maths has to be accomplished with a playway method, because children loves to play. Abacus is also a playing tool for them and ultimately they learn maths from this tool.
